Beyondvis Studio - Zero Waste Installation

Beyondvis & Archvisual studios created this project as a test pattern for using proximity sensing technology. Inspired by the Zero Waste philosophy, they gathered a series of facts and developed the project further to create an interactive projection mapping installation. Their goal was to present the projec­­­t in a fresh, engaging and colorful way to raise awareness and gain support for a great cause.

The original concept was made in Dublin, then brought to Wroclaw, where it was developed further before being installed as a life-size interactive wall. As a joint force between Beyondvis & Archvisual studios, they created duplicated prototype samples in both cities which contained the same themes with slightly altered content. For both teams, it has proven that content can be coordinated remotely without any borders.

After a few tests with the Pi Cap & Raspberry Pi, the team decided to go with the Touch Board, as they felt it was more sturdy and a simpler solution for their needs.

For the sensors, they used copper sheets installed at the back. They used the proximity sensing feature of the Touch Board and wired copper sensors through the plywood wall to trigger animations at the front. In the example below, Dariusz from Beyondvis says that they decided to skip Electric Paint and go totally ''dry''. This gave them the freedom of creating artwork digitally so they could print it quickly on self-adhesive transparent film. Active touch areas were demarcated with white color.

They took this approach so that they could keep the base canvas plywood layer for future projects if needed. The front graphics are interchangeable with sensors at the back to be repositioned to fit new content.
